"It is really very difficult to study and bring up children at the same time in a refugee camp with all the restrictions and inadequate services but I am happy that through hard work, I can see I am making progress, albeit in the worst circumstances. What motivates me is the number of girls who have changed their attitudes when they saw me. I am an inspirational for them and they say if I can do it, they too can do it."

 "As the Somali tradition goes, girls are usually kept at home for marriage. Many people in our neighbors advised my mother not “to put all her eggs in one basket” they encourage her to marry off her daughters early before it is “too late” but she insists that she must fulfill her mission to educate and bring up professionals."

"After the civil war, our country has fallen into the hands of greedy businessmen who supply fake drugs that claimed the lives of so many people but they are never reported. We often hear about those who died in the war and famine but similar numbers might have died as a result of poor medication. My mission is to help change that and educate the people on the dangers of these fake drugs."

 "I am really proud to be giving back to my community. I always tell them of my stories, which many share with me. They take my lessons seriously and everyone looks up to me to make to where I am and that makes my day. "The tablets are few in number so every class gets limited access throughout the school term and we are not allowed to take it home. I wish every student had one so that we could use it at home as it would increase our overall performance."

"Coming to Dadaab, I thought, that was the end of my ambition and dreams in life. I never imagined doing drawing for people in tents or working for a radio station in a camp. However, I could not believe that the camp was just like a city with competing businesses including taxis, restaurants, cinemas and shops."
